Freehand Mei Tai
I had been intrigued by the mei tai for some time. With Marcella, I only had used a ring sling and an Ergo and the mei tai seemed so different to me. I was really hoping to try one out to see if I would even like one so when Carry Me Baby Carrier Rental Service gave me the opportunity to choose one carrier to rent for 3 months, I was all about the mei tai. The FreeHand Mei Tai is what I was sent.
At first, I had trouble figuring it out, specifically getting my son high enough. That’s where going to a local babywearing meeting came in very handy. I was shown the Lexi twist and didn’t have any trouble after that! I think it was a good one to learn how a mei tai works. I was even able to get my son on my back for the first time with this mei tai.
I love the long straps on the FreeHand. It facilitates wearing it in different positions and tying it in front or in back. I’d imagine it makes it easier for different shapes and sizes of people to use it as well. 🙂 My mom wore Jude in it as well and said it was comfortable.
I found it was really comfortable and felt light. It is a great carrier for hot weather because there isn’t a whole lot of material to make it hot and sweaty and air can easily get in.
I was very much leaning towards getting one but, and this is going to sound silly maybe, but I just wasn’t in love with any of the styles. I did get a lot of compliments on the Theresa style I had though. I liked the Jane the best and was so close to buying it. I ended up spying a beautiful mei tai on Etsy that I ended up purchasing instead. I don’t like it as much as the FreeHand, but I do LOVE the 2 prints it came in.
Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post but Carry Me Baby Carrier Rental Service did lend me a FreeHand Mei Tai for 2 weeks for the purpose of this review. I was not required to give a positive review and all opinions are 100% my own. Amazon links are affiliate links.
