prAna: Making Good Stuff in a Good Way

Today I want to introduce you to a company called prAna. They have a great philosophy: making good stuff in a good way. What does this mean? prAna mindfully designs clothing that is made to last. How does this break down? Keep reading to find out more!

First, they start with the fabric itself. They aim to use sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, recycled polyester and Tencel as much as possible. They also hold themselves to a higher standard and have become a bluesign system’s partner. Being conscious of how the production process impacts the environment and the health of all of us is important to prAna. Packaging is another way they are mindful. After reviewing the amount of plastic they were using, they now ship all clothing in paper bags made of 100% recycled content and reduced their plastic bag consumption by 50%.

prAna ClothingI love that browsing their website it is easy to support Fair Trade practices. Whenever you buy something that is marked Fair Trade certified, you know prAna is actively supporting the community where it was made. In fact, a premium of every sale of Fair Trade Certified clothing is used towards projects that benefit the communities of the farmers and factory workers who made it. You can also easily go right to the sustainably made items. (Some links below are affiliate links.)

Besides that fact that prAna is just a great company, they also make great clothes! You will find items for men and women all suited for an active lifestyle. I received the Fair Trade Certified Dahlia Skirt in Capri Blue and the Spiral Tee in Clover. Both of these pieces are extremely comfortable. I felt like I was wearing pajamas, but I didn’t look like I was wearing pajamas!

The Spiral Tee comes in the color I got, Clover, which is a greenish color as well as Lupine, a purplish color and Melon, a coralish color. The material of the shirt is very thin. I could definitely see me working out in this shirt or going for a run. Even in the heat, this material seems like it would be ideal because of how thin and lightweight it is. At the same time, it pairs well with a pair of shorts or jeans for going out easily and doesn’t seem out of place. As far as the design, the website describes it perfectly by saying it “borrows from a funky earlier era without making you out of place in this one.” It pairs really well with the Dahlia Skirt, too!

Speaking of the Dahlia skirt, this is also a thin, lightweight piece. Super comfy, it’s perfect for lounging around but looks great for wearing out of the house as well! It comes in a delicious Berry color, Capri Blue and White. I love the color I received, Capri Blue. It reminds me of the beach and coincidentally, this would be a great skirt to wear to the beach. It has that carefree vibe to it.prAna Clothing
