About the Ergobaby Doll Carrier

I was sent the Ergo Baby Doll Carrier in Purple Mystic for review. (It also comes in Galaxy Grey.) I have a well-loved Ergobaby carrier myself, so I was tickled that now Marcella would have one, too. We were both so excited to open up the box and check it out. Of course, Marcella wanted to wear it right away. My heart melted when she put her stuffed animal in and her first reaction was to wrap her arms around her animal and lay her head on it for a nice hug.

Inside Pocket

I don’t know exactly what I was expecting, but I can’t get over how cute this is and how VERY like a real Ergobaby carrier it is! It has the same waist buckle and chest clip, as well as adjustable straps. The waist band is slightly padded and the shoulder straps are padded just like the real deal. It can be worn in the front and back positions. It is absolutely adorable!

A neat feature of this doll carrier is that on the inside is a little pocket that your child can choose to load their doll or stuffed animal in before strapping it on. For bigger animals, this won’t work but for most dolls and smaller/medium sized animals, they will fit just fine. It isn’t at all necessary to use the pocket, but it is a nice feature that makes it easier for a toddler/preschooler to use the doll carrier.

The product is recommended for ages 3 and up and I think that is right on. I’m sure a younger child could use it as well but it may be a little big for them and/or harder to figure out. I do have to strap and buckle it on Marcella since she can’t do it herself and she cannot get it off herself (well, at least not “properly”…she did manage to wriggle herself out of it somehow once while leaving all of it buckled.) That is a slight drawback as she needs me if she wants to play with it, but I certainly don’t mind helping her of course!

I really love that the straps adjust just like the real Ergobaby carrier. This means it will accommodate a child as they grow and it adjusts to fit different size dolls and stuffed animals. Marcella has worn small animals and rather large animals and it was easy to get her fitted just right.

I love watching her wear her animals around the house or ask to take it with us to the playground. She mimics how I carry her baby brother, and I get to see her be a little mother which is precious. If you have any little ones, this would be a wonderful gift for them whether you babywear or not! It’s very well made and I’m sure will last us a long, long time.
