Today I’m sharing with you my experience with the beautiful Denim Dreams wrap handwoven by Ruck Star Handwovens, a lovely mama in the US that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. If you want to learn more about Amy and the life of a weaver, you can read my interview with her.Ruck Star Handwoven Wrap: A Little Bit of All of It

If you’ve read the interview, you’ve seen some of what makes Ruck Star special. I’ve seen every wrap that has come off of her loom and each one is unique and special and just lovely. Not only have I seen the pictures though, I had the opportunity to test one out for myself!Denim Dreams is a beautiful, soft, cushy blanket of a wrap. I absolutely loved the colors of blue, green and white. It reminded me of the beach. I felt like the colors were calming and serene.

Ruck Star Handwoven Wrap: A Little Bit of All of ItRuck Star Handwoven Wrap: A Little Bit of All of ItI have tried several wraps and nothing I’ve felt before quite felt like Denim Dreams. Comfort is the word that keeps coming to mind. It was so thick and cushy but not so thick that it was beastly. It was a soft thickness. Putting the fabric between my fingers, I could push and it Ruck Star Handwoven: A Little Bit of All of Itwould give if that makes sense. That is the kind of cush I’m talking about.

One of the most exciting things for me was how supportive it was. My son is small but I have a 4 year old 35 lb daughter and had no problem wearing her in this wrap. I don’t generally wrap her as she is too big for my frame but Denim Dreams held her perfectly comfortably for me. And the reason this was so exciting? I could practice back carriers with her and finally was able to back carry my son for the first time because I was able to gain confidence from practicing with my daughter! Yippee! So Denim Dreams will always hold a special place in my heart as the first wrap I successfully wore my son on my back.

Some of my local babywearing group got to test out Denim Dreams, too and here is what some of them had to say.Ruck Star Handwoven: A Little Bit of All of ItRuck Star Handwoven: A Little Bit of All of It

“This wrap had a totally different feeling than anything I’ve tried. It was thick, but not overwhelming to wrap with. It had an interesting texture to it, and I liked how you could really see the weave. It was definitely grippy and stayed in place. It was very supportive (dd is ~29 lbs), and felt really cushy on my shoulders. It wasn’t a dense weave, so it didn’t feel as hot as some of my other thicker wraps. I would love to have one of my own!”Ruck Star Handwoven: A Little Bit of All of It

“I agree completely with what [above] said. I found it a little tricky to wrap with, but I think that was mostly because I am unused to handwovens. Once [my son] was up, it felt like a dream, so solid and comfortable. I could have worn him all day in it, but he wanted to play. I’d love to have one of my own!”

“I loved this wrap! The colors were beautiful, and the texture unlike anything I’ve touched! I’ve been able to try a good variety of baby carriers and wraps and this handwoven, hemp blend has definitely been the cushiest! So soft and comfy while still relatively new! It was on the thicker side, but not too thick.. Just right! I honestly didn’t get a lot of time to use it as my little one was on a wearing strike while it was visiting, but I sure would love to have one of my own!”

Ruck Star Handwoven: A Little Bit of All of ItI, too, would love to own a Ruck Star Handwoven. I’d love to be snuggling my son in it right now! Go like Ruck Star Handwovens on Facebook and see some of her other lovely designs. I’m sure you will see something you love, too!
