What I’m Into: January 2012

I’ve taken a bit of hiatus from the blogging world to rest. In case you did not catch the news on Facebook, this July will be an exciting time for us as we will be welcoming another baby into our family. I’ve been sick and insanely exhausted. I started feeling the baby kicking and moving around a couple weeks ago (15 weeks along) which is a good reminder that it will all be worth it.

I’ve really wanted to get back to blogging and have lots of fun things I would like to blog about but just haven’t felt up to actually doing it. I saw this post from The Hippie Housewife and decided that would be an easy, fun way to get back into blog land and will give you a bit of an update about what is going on in my world. And, to give credit where credit is due, the hostess of What Are You Into? is Sorta Crunchy.

What I’m Into This Month – January 2012

On My Nightstand: This month I haven’t read much but read quite a bit in the last couple months of the year since I was stuck on the couch or in bed. I finished up the last 2 books of The Hunger Games at the beginning of this month since my husband bought them for us for Christmas. We both really enjoyed them and they must be miracle books because my husband NEVER read but was persuaded to read these and loved them.

I started to read Mary Barton yesterday because I love Elizabeth Gaskell but really only got through the introduction.

TV Show Worth Watching: I got hooked on Downton Abbey! Love it! I watched Season 1 on streaming Netflix and then watched the couple episodes that had already aired on PBS.org so I could get all caught up and watch it live. It comes on 9pm on Sunday nights on PBS.

My husband and I have also been enjoying Once Upon a Time which comes on right before Downton Abbey so Sunday is kind of my TV night I guess. We also watch some of the Thursday night shows on NBC although the only ones I don’t like to miss are The Office and Up All Night. Other than that, I pretty much don’t watch anything else. (If you’re an Office fan and are also on MySpace, Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesley) blogs about her life and the show on her MySpace page. It’s actually pretty much the only reason I have left my account open over there. I don’t even have to go to the site. They email me when she posts. She always tells fun little tidbits about the behind the scenes on the show that are fun to read.)

Movie I’ve Seen (in or out of the theater): I’m trying to think back and I don’t actually remember watching anything except Mr. Popper’s Penguins. It was a cute movie and Marcella wanted to play with her plastic eggs and pretend they were going to hatch birdies after watching it. I definitely have not gone to the theater. I’ve been staying home most of the time since I’m so tired and still nauseous/throwing up at times.

In My Kitchen: Well, I can tell you what is NOT in my kitchen — Me. The smell of the kitchen (ESPECIALLY if the fridge was recently opened) is hard for me to take. My sense of smell is in hyper overdrive so I smell what no one else smells. It’s REALLY fun. Um, not really. In fact, if you ever have the choice of a super power, DON’T pick super smell. There are lots of things that should never be smelled.

In My Ears: Not much. I guess I haven’t been in the mood lately. If I do turn something on, it has been all the songs on my iPhone on shuffle so a weird eclectic mix of genres. I’m almost always with Marcella though and I put on kids music for her from my iPhone.

Pinterest Finds: I just starting pinning things this month so I’m brand new to the Pinterest world. (Follow me!) But I quickly made up for lost time by dumping all the bookmarks I could (and sites saved in Google Reader and my email) into the site. I have been a pinning madwoman. It has been a nice diversion for bed/couch ridden days for sure. I’ve been using it primarily as a practical tool so I don’t pin a whole lot that I don’t think I could actually do (and I’m not crafty so there’s A LOT I can’t do), but since my best friend is crafty, I’ve been pinning things I think she could help me with or make for me. πŸ™‚ I’ll just showcase a favorite from most of my boards (and, yeah, I have a lot of boards.) The boards not represented below are: Buy Me This, House Projects, Crunchy Home, Crunchy Kitchen, Crunchy Health & Beauty, Random, Local, School and Holidays.

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month: Hopefully feeling better and getting rid of this nausea and exhaustion. THAT would be fabulous. I, of course, don’t have any way of knowing if that will happen, but I can hope. We do have our anatomy scan in February so we may find out the gender of our baby then. I’ll be able to move forward with nursery stuff (although the nursery theme we’re thinking of is pretty much neutral but we’d probably add in some accents based on gender possibly.)

Anyone else want to play? What were YOU into this past month?
