Babywearing Mama Profile – Anna
Each week I’ll be introducing you to a babywearing mama (or papa!) during A Little Bit of All of It’s Babywearing Series. Find out more about this mama at the end of the post. (You can be included in a future post by filling out the Babywearing Profile form.)
When did you start wearing your baby/young child? I started wearing both my babies in their first week of life. My first carrier was a Hotsling.
What is your favorite carrier?Although the Hotsling was my first, my favorite is by far my Ergo!
What is your favorite carry? Now that my youngest is almost 2 years old, carrying her on my back is the most practical. However, the front carry is still my favorite. I love hugging her close!
How did you first learn about Babywearing and what were your initial impressions of it? I don’t remember when I first learned about babywearing! I do remember thinking someone would be crazy to pay $100 for a carrier, but I still thought I’d wear my baby. By the time my first was 3 months old (and 15 lbs), I quickly figured out that paying more for a carrier that was comfortable was a great investment!
How many carriers do you own and what are they? Three carriers: Baby Bjorn (which I never really used!), Hotsling, and ErgoBaby
Do you have a favorite babywearing story/scenario? Hmm…many memories include wearing my babies! But some special memories are wearing my nephew for his first walk outside the house, cooking MANY meals with a baby on my back, traveling across the country by plane while wearing my baby, and wearing my first baby until I was about 34 weeks pregnant with baby #2.
What is the strangest or funniest thing you’ve done while wearing your baby? One of my recent, memorable things was picking strawberries in a huge strawberry field with my 26 lb kiddo on my back.
What is your favorite thing about wearing your baby? I love that she is comfortable and close, but I still have my arms/hands to use as needed. My little one LOVES being held, so babywearing is a lifesaver for us. And I love that she can’t get into trouble when she’s on my back. 😉
