Meet My New Organic Ergo in Lattice
Let me introduce you to my new Ergo. It is a beautiful lattice print organic Ergo. Unlike my other Ergo (which is not organic), this one is made from 100% organic cotton twill and sateen, dyed with natural pigments and the fabric is Oeko-Tex certified. (The Organic Ergo is also available in 3 solid colors and 3 other prints in addition to the lattice print.) It’s hard to tell from the picture so I wanted to point out that the lattice is brown, cream and light blue with a natural color background and a brown hood. The inside is brown and is a soft cotton sateen fabric. It feels quite lovely.
I posted about my experience with my original Ergo already as well as what I thought of the Ergo Performance Infant Insert. Specifically with the Organic Ergobaby carrier, I felt like it seemed a little nicer. Obviously being made from organic fabric is a huge plus. It just makes me feel good knowing the fabric that is touching my baby’s bare skin (and mine for that matter) is safer. The zipper pull and buckles seemed nicer, too but maybe that is my perception because obviously this carrier is brand new and my other has been used A LOT. I enjoy having a pretty design and a light color. I think this particular color would be a great one for the summer months as the darker colors attract more heat than this nice light color would.
Of course, it has all the same awesome benefits and features of every Ergo! The carrier fits wearers from 5″ to 6’5″ and babies from 7 lbs (with insert, 12 without) to 45 lbs. The waist belt fits 24″ to 45″. I’m 5’2″ and both of my children are on the smaller side as well. The Ergo is personally a really great fit for our family. It’s a comfortable carrier and distributes the weight evenly so I don’t have problems with an achy back or shoulders or anywhere really. The padded shoulders mean I have never felt like it was digging into me at any point. I will say that I did find the buckles seemed a little stiffer on this one but maybe I’m just used to my well-loved buckles on my original Ergo. The Organic Ergo has the same sleeping hood and zippered pocket as the original as well, great for stuffing in keys, bank cards, sunglasses, whatever. It fits a burp cloth well, too as I keep one with me with all the drool from baby Jude these days!
If you want to see other parents enjoying their Ergo’s, definitely check out Ergobaby’s blog series, Enjoy the Ride. My personal favorite post in the series is the story of one mama’s struggles with babywearing…that is until she found the Ergo! It is such a sweet story. The other posts are fun to read, too.
