Babywearing Mama Profile – Anna

Each week I’ll be introducing you to a babywearing mama (or papa!) during A Little Bit of All of It’s Babywearing Series. Find out more about this mama at the end of the post. (You can be included in a future post by filling out the Babywearing Profile form.)

When did you start wearing your baby/young child? I started wearing both my babies in their first week of life. My first carrier was a Hotsling.

What is your favorite carrier?Although the Hotsling was my first, my favorite is by far my Ergo!

Anna wears her 10 month old in an Ergo.

What is your favorite carry? Now that my youngest is almost 2 years old, carrying her on my back is the most practical. However, the front carry is still my favorite. I love hugging her close!

How did you first learn about Babywearing and what were your initial impressions of it? I don’t remember when I first learned about babywearing! I do remember thinking someone would be crazy to pay $100 for a carrier, but I still thought I’d wear my baby. By the time my first was 3 months old (and 15 lbs), I quickly figured out that paying more for a carrier that was comfortable was a great investment!

How many carriers do you own and what are they? Three carriers: Baby Bjorn (which I never really used!), Hotsling, and ErgoBaby

Do you have a favorite babywearing story/scenario? Hmm…many memories include wearing my babies! But some special memories are wearing my nephew for his first walk outside the house, cooking MANY meals with a baby on my back, traveling across the country by plane while wearing my baby, and wearing my first baby until I was about 34 weeks pregnant with baby #2.

Anna wears her 21 month old in an Ergo.

What is the strangest or funniest thing you’ve done while wearing your baby? One of my recent, memorable things was picking strawberries in a huge strawberry field with my 26 lb kiddo on my back.

What is your favorite thing about wearing your baby? I love that she is comfortable and close, but I still have my arms/hands to use as needed. My little one LOVES being held, so babywearing is a lifesaver for us. And I love that she can’t get into trouble when she’s on my back. 😉

Anna has been married to her wonderful husband for 7 years, and she’s the mama of two little girls (Almost 2 and almost 4 yrs old). She gets to stay home with her girlies most of the time, but is also a labor & delivery nurse, internationally certified lactation consultant, and a Mary Kay consultant. During the school year, she also helps run a local moms support group, which she love! And in her spare time, She has fun blogging about day-to-day life at Another Rainy Day in Paradise.
